Director
of Private Postsecondary Education Dr. Patricia M. Anderson received her doctorate from the University of Kansas in 1983 with a major in language arts education and a minor in special education with emphasis on gifted education. She began her career in the Lawrence School District. Throughout her career in public school teaching, Pat participated in research studies in education and provided in-service training for teachers and administrators throughout the state of Kansas. As an adjunct faculty member at the University of Kansas, Pat developed and taught several courses through the Independent Study Center. In 1986 Pat left public school teaching and founded the Center for Training in Business and Industry in Lawrence. After selling this business in 1998, Dr. Anderson came to the Kansas Department of Education as a part-time employee to oversee proprietary schools in Kansas. After this position was transferred to the Kansas Board of Regents, Dr. Anderson was asked to become the State Administrator for GED Testing. As of July 2003, the Director of Proprietary School position became full-time with added responsibility for degree-granting authority for foreign and private postsecondary institutions. |
