Dates and times for both Math and ELA Institute III trainings will be the same. To reduce program travel expensese, each strand will be offered at both Garden City* and Lawrence. A minimum of 10 participants are required for each area of training at each location. Program directors will be notified if a location does not meet the minimum number of participants. Participants WILL have the option of changing training locations. This will be the only Institute III training in FY17.
*note: this location was changed on 2/1/17
CCRS Institute III Math and ELA training materials and methods build on the work delivered at Institutes I and II. Attendees will learn how to analyze student assignments against the demands of the College and Career Readiness (CCR) standards and how to apply their insights to improve the assignments. Tools and processes to observe classroom instruction with respect to the instructional shifts that the standards demand will also be provided. The observation protocols – one for math and one for ELA/literacy – are designed to teach instructors how to assess implementation of standards as well as areas for promoting continuous improvement activities.
- Analyze the alignment of assignments and student work to the CCR standards.
- Know how to identify the alignment of classroom instruction to the fundamental instructional advances that the CCR standards demand, which includes the use of assignments with accompanying student work and the use of classroom videos.
