In September 2011, the Kansas Board of Regents established the Governance Committee, which is responsible for certain Board administrative and governance issues, including overseeing the Board's by-laws, regulations, and policies, overseeing Board effectiveness, and facilitating the Board's efforts to carry out its responsibility to system institutions and the state.
The Governance Committee is comprised of four Regents appointed by the Chair and approved by the Board. The Committee's responsibilities are set out in its Charter, adopted by the Board November 16, 2011. The Committee generally meets before the start of the monthly Board meetings. The Governance Committee meetings are public and notice will be given in accordance with the Kansas Open Meetings Act (K.S.A. 75-4317 through 75-4320a).
