VICE PRESIDENT FOR FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION

The Kansas Board of Regents, the governing body for the state’s six state universities and the coordinating body for all thirty-two Kansas public higher education institutions, invites nominations and applications for the Vice-President for Finance and Administration. This position serves as the Board’s chief financial and administrative officer and reports directly to its President/CEO. In that capacity, the Vice President provides overall leadership and management regarding fiscal and administrative matters for the state’s system of postsecondary education, and serves as the key financial and administrative advisor for the Regents and its President/CEO. The Vice President serves as a member of the senior staff, and directly oversees a staff of approximately twenty-five. The successful candidate will have at a minimum a bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field and at least five years of relevant work experience. A well developed set of communication (oral and written), analytical, and interpersonal skills is essential. The ideal candidate will present 10 years of relevant experience in higher education, especially experience with both two-year and four-year institutions. A master’s or advanced degree in business, finance, or related field is preferred along with a demonstrated understanding of the broad array of critical issues confronting public higher education – both in Kansas and nationally.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

KANSAS BOARD OF REGENTS
DIRECTOR OF FACILITIES

The Kansas Board of Regents invites nominations and applications for highly qualified applicants to fill the position of Director of Facilities. The Director of Facilities will serve as the Board’s expert on all physical facilities matters at the state universities (University of Kansas, University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas State University, Wichita State University, Emporia State University, Pittsburg State University, and Fort Hays State University). In that capacity, the Director will serve as the key advisor to the Kansas Board of Regents and its President/CEO and Vice-President for Finance and Administration.

Required Qualifications: A Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch.) professional degree (5-year program) from a NAAB (National Architectural Accrediting Board) accredited program is required. A minimum of five years of relevant experience is also required. The successful applicant must also possess a strong background in architecture, planning and construction, exceptionally well-developed oral and written communications skills, along with effective interpersonal abilities. Finally, the successful applicant must have the capacity to work effectively with a wide range of constituents – campus architects, planners, and leaders; industry groups such as the American Institute of Architects Kansas, the Association of General Contractors of Kansas, and the Kansas Consulting Engineers; legislators, governmental agencies, community groups, and the general public.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with the legislative process and in working within the framework of a board structure is among the preferred qualifications for the position. In addition, the strongest candidates will have been involved in facilities planning/management in a higher education setting. The Director should also possess the demonstrated capacity to provide leadership and oversight of university architects and other facilities experts from across the state universities. Finally, a successful candidate should understand current issues facing higher education facilities, both at the state and national levels.
