Board
of Regents announce 2003 fall enrollment figures
TOPEKA -
State university enrollment figures released today by the Kansas Board
of Regents show a system-wide increase of 1,307 students for a 1.5% increase
for the 2003 fall semester over 2002 fall semester. The state’s
public universities reported a combined enrollment of 87,600 students
as of the 20th day of classes.
The total
number of Kansas residents enrolled at the state universities increased
by 236 students, bringing the number of resident students to 68,264. The
number of non-resident students increased by 1,071 students, with 19,336
non-resident students enrolled at the state universities. Students enrolled
in on-campus courses increased by 4 to a total of 79,132 for the fall
semester, while off-campus enrollments of 8,468 represent an increase
of 1,303 students over the 2002 fall semester.
The nine-member
Kansas Board of Regents governs the state’s six public universities:
Emporia State University, Fort Hays State University, Kansas State University,
Pittsburg State University, University of Kansas and Wichita State University.
