DeBauge,
Bond tapped to leadership
TOPEKA –
The Kansas Board of Regents elected Janice DeBauge as Board Chair today.
In a similar move, the Board also elected Dick Bond as Vice-Chair.
DeBauge,
Emporia, was reappointed by Governor Kathleen Sebelius for a four-year
term, which will expire June 30, 2007. Bond’s term expires June
30, 2006.
"Since
the Board’s reorganization in 1999, we have achieved many successes
for higher education," said DeBauge. "I am looking forward to
a year where we can set an ambitious agenda with the goal of achieving
those tasks."
DeBauge
was instrumental in passing legislation in 2002, which further clarified,
in statute, the Board of Regents coordinating authority for higher education
in Kansas; and in 2003 she played a key role in passing legislation that
redefined the make-up of governing boards for technical colleges.
"Our
exposure at the Capitol, and with the public, will be enhanced by Janice’s
leadership. She and Dick will compliment each other as they lead higher
education in Kansas to the next level," said Reggie Robinson, President
and CEO.
The Chair
and Vice-Chair serve in their respective capacities for one-year terms.
