(TOPEKA) – Yesterday the Kansas Board of Regents elected a new Chair and Vice Chair. The nine-member Board elected Donna Shank of Liberal as the new Chair and Nelson Galle of Manhattan as the new Vice Chair.

BOARD OF REGENTS APPROVES STATE UNIVERSITY TUITION RATES

(TOPEKA) – Today the Kansas Board of Regents established the tuition rates for the six state universities for the 2005-2006 academic year.

KANSAS UNIVERSITIES RATED "BEST BUYS"

(TOPEKA) - A recent study conducted by the Kansas Board of Regents compared the tuition rates of Kansas' six state universities to institutions in other states for the recently concluded 2004-2005 academic year.   The results of the survey indicate that tuition rates in Kansas are considerably lower than the national and regional averages.

BOARD OF REGENTS AWARDS GENDER NONTRADITIONAL GRANTS

$150,000 Awarded For Regional Education and Workforce Initiatives

(TOPEKA) - This week the Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR) awarded four grants totaling $150,000 to four regional centers to address the participation and completion rates of gender nontraditional students in approved career and technical education programs in Kansas.

BOARD OF REGENTS AWARDS LEADERSHIP GRANTS

$274,000 Awarded For Workforce and Economic Development Initiatives

(TOPEKA) – Today the Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR) announced seven grant awards intended to encourage, expand and improve workforce education and economic development in Kansas. Barton County Community College, Flint Hills Technical College, Fort Scott Community College, Manhattan Area Technical College, Pratt Community College and Wichita Area Technical College were selected from 30 eligible Kansas community colleges, technical colleges and technical schools. Grant selection was based on the merits of proposals submitted to KBOR that would enhance the areas of career and technical education by either serving as a demonstration site or as a statewide/regional model.

BOARD OF REGENTS ANNOUNCE 2005 SPRING ENROLLMENT FIGURES

(TOPEKA) – State university enrollment figures released today by the Kansas Board of Regents show a system-wide increase of 250 students for a 0.3% increase for the 2005 spring semester over the 2004 spring semester. The six state universities reported a combined enrollment of 82,275 students as of the 20th day of classes.

BOARD APPROVES HIGHER EDUCATION MILITARY BENEFITS

Regents Endorse Governor Sebelius’ Military Bill of Rights Higher Education Provisions

(TOPEKA) – Yesterday the nine-member Board of Regents formally endorsed the higher education-related elements within Governor Kathleen Sebelius’ proposed Kansas Military Bill of Rights.

BOARD PRESENTS INAUGURAL "AD ASTRA PER ASPERA" AWARD

Camille Kluge, Wichita Area Technical College President, Receives Award

(TOPEKA) – Yesterday the nine-member Board of Regents presented its first ever "Ad Astra Per Aspera" Award to Camille Kluge, President of Wichita Area Technical College (WATC). The award’s citation reads simply but significantly: "For Her Leadership in Advancing the Cause of Higher Education in Kansas In the Face of Great Challenges."
