Nonresidents

The admission requirements below apply to nonresidents who have graduated from an accredited high school and who have earned fewer than 24 credit hours (from an institution of higher education) that are transferable to a state university.

An applicant who meets the following minimum requirements MAY be considered for admission to a state university. However, admission is NOT guaranteed; state universities may establish more stringent requirements. Contact the state university of your choice for more specific information.

Minimum Requirements

1. Achieve a composite score on the ACT of at least 21 points; or

2. Rank in the top third of the applicant's high school class upon completion of 7 or 8 semesters; or

3. Complete the Qualified Admission pre college curriculum (described in K.A.R. 88-29-11), or its functional equivalent (described in K.A.R. 88-29-19) with a minimum grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.

An applicant who does not meet any of the three requirements may petition the state university of his or her choice for conditional admission. Admission is NOT guaranteed; each state university has its own policies for conditional admission.
