Daniel J. Thomas, DDS is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontolgy and Dental Implant Surgery practicing in the wider Kansas City area. He was appointed to the Kansas Board of Regents by Governor Sam Brownback in 2015.
He is active in several professional associations and was appointed to the Kansas Dental Board by Governor Jeff Colyer in 2018. He serves as the Director of the Kansas Chamber of Commerce Board and served as the Director of the University of Kansas Hospital Authority Board and the Kansas Arts Foundation Board. Thomas also served as the Chairman of the Kansas Board of Regents Oral Health Task Force in 2011 and has won numerous awards including the 2011 Professional Leader of the Year from the Chamber of Commerce and the 2007 Ellis Island Medal of Honor from National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations.
Thomas was born in Bangalore, India, and attended Government Dental College before coming to the United States to attend the University of Missouri-Kansas City, School of Dentistry. He completed his DDS in 1990, and a Master of Science in Oral Biology and Specialty Certificate in Periodontology and Dental Implant Surgery in 1992.
He and his wife, Donna, have two children. In his free time, Thomas enjoys reading, traveling, art and photography.
