Four Regents serve on the Kansas Board of Regents Governance Committee, established in 2011. The Regents are appointed annually by the Chair and approved by the Board. The membership includes:

The Committee's responsibilities are set out in its Charter, adopted by the Board November 16, 2011. The Committee is responsible for certain Board administrative and governance issues, including overseeing the Board's by-laws, regulations, and policies; overseeing Board effectiveness; and facilitating the Board's efforts to carry out its responsibility to system institutions and the state, and generally meets in person the morning before the start of the monthly Board meeting.

The Governance Committee meetings are public and notice will be given in accordance with the Kansas Open Meetings Act (K.S.A. 75-4317 through 75-4320a).
